Ketut Permata Juliastrid Sari (born 12 July 2000) is an Indonesian model, fashion designer and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata 2024.[1][2][3] She will represent Indonesia at the Miss Cosmo 2024 pageant which will be held in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.[4][5]

Early life and education[edit]

Ketut Permata Juliastrid Sari was born on July 12, 2000, in the city of Denpasar, the capital of the province of Bali, Indonesia. Permata grew up with her family in the area near Sanur, a tourist village on the east coast of South Denpasar in Denpasar.[6][7] She is the fourth child of Balinese couple I Ketut Tawan and Dwi Astuti "Wiwied" Tawan.[8][9][10]

Currently, Permata is registered as a student at the private college Bali Institute of Design and Business in Denpasar. She is studying in the Fashion Design vocational study program pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Design (S.Tr.Ds.) degree since 2022.[11][12] One year previously, Permata studied Management at Udayana University for 3 semesters before finally stopping and being declared inactive.[13]

Career[edit]

Permata is an activist and tourism observer, especially in preserving the culture and natural landscape in her hometown in Bali.[14][15] It has an advocacy that focuses on responsible tourism practices that can benefit the environment and surrounding communities in Bali. Through its advocacy, Permata aims to provide a deep understanding of the importance of preserving nature and the integrity of Balinese culture.[16][17]

On February 27, 2024, during the Puteri Indonesia 2024 quarantine period, Permata and all the contestants were appointed as Ambassadors for the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) as Influencers of Safe Cosmetics.[18][19] Apart from that, on March 6, 2024, she and all the other contestants were also appointed as Ambassadors of the Corruption Eradication Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KPK) as Anti-Corruption Influencers.[20][21] This is a form of initiative because they are considered to "have a special role as educators, motivators, initiators, facilitators and advocates" for eradicating corruption in Indonesia.[20]

In March 2024, together with the other winners of Puteri Indonesia 2024; Harashta Haifa Zahra, Sophie Kirana, and Melati Tedja, Permata were appointed as brand ambassadors for Bank Central Asia (BCA).[22][23][24] This appointment is one of the results of collaboration between organizations and companies as one of the main sponsors of the contest since the previous edition. It aims to find women with potential to promote products from Bank Central Asia during their one-year term of office.[22][23]

Pageantry[edit]

Puteri Indonesia Bali 2024[edit]

In 2024, Permata made her pageantry debut by participating in the Puteri Indonesia Bali 2024 provincial level competition which was held at Balai Giri Nata Mandala, Badung Regency on January 27, 2024. At the end of the event, she was announced as the winner and was crowned by Nanda Widya Saraswati from Denpasar as her predecessor.[25][26] As Puteri Indonesia Bali 2024, she has the right to represent Bali at Puteri Indonesia 2024.[6]

Puteri Indonesia 2024[edit]

After successfully qualifying as a provincial representative with the title Puteri Indonesia Bali 2024, Permata represented the province of Bali at the national beauty contest Puteri Indonesia 2024 which was held at the Plenary Hall, Jakarta Convention Center in Central Jakarta on March 8, 2024–as a commemoration and celebration of International Women's Day.[27][28][29]

At the end of the event, Permata managed to qualify for the top sixteen, top six, top four and was successfully crowned as the third winner with the title Puteri Indonesia Parwisata 2024, she was crowned by her predecessor Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata 2023, Lulu Zaharani Krisna from Lampung.[1][30][31] Permata is the second Balinese and Hindu woman to be crowned Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata after last being Cokorda Istri Krisnanda Widani in the 17th edition.[32][33]

Miss Cosmo 2024[edit]

Through the results of organizational discussions, Permata as the holder of the title Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata 2024 was officially announced that she was appointed to compete to represent Indonesia in the inaugural edition of the Miss Cosmo pageant. The contest is scheduled to be held in October 2024 in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.[4][5]
