Kotee[1] (transl. A Crore) is a 2024 Indian Kannada-language Thriller drama film directed by debutant Param and produced by Jyothi Deshpande under Jio Studios Banner. The film stars Dhananjaya, Moksha Kushal, Ramesh Indira, Rangayana Raghu, and Tara. It marks Jio Studios entry into Kannada cinema.[2] The film has cinematography by Arun Bhrama, editing by Pratheek Shetty of Kantara and 777 Charlie, music by Vasuki Vaibhav, and background score by Nobin Paul of 777 Charlie and 2018 fame.[3][4]

The film is set to be released on 14 June 2024.

Production[edit]

In April 2023, it was reported that Param, renowned for his path breaking work in Kannada television as the business head for Viacom18 Kannada cluster,[5] was set to make his entry into silver screen.[6] He joined hands with Jio Studios for the same and Dhanajaya[7][8][9] was chosen to headline the project. Though the title was initially kept under wraps, Dhananjaya had accidently revealed the name of the movie in one of his interviews. Moksha Kushal was roped into play the female lead and Ramesh Indira who had impressed audiences in the 2023 Kannada romantic drama Sapta Sagaradaache Ello was cast as the antagonist in the movie. The film was shot in Bengaluru and Mysuru.[10][11]

Soundtrack[edit]

The songs of the film are composed by Vasuki Vaibhav while the background score is by Nobin Paul of 777 Charlie and 2018 fame. The music rights of the movie were aquired by Saregama.[12]

Release[edit]

Marketing[edit]

The first look poster of the film was released on 09 April 2024 on the occasion of Ugadi.[13] A few days later the first look of the female lead Moksha Kushal was revealed.[14][15] The teaser was released on 13 April 2024.[16][17] A few days later, the first look of the antagonist, Ramesh Indira, was released.[18] A special video of the film featuring Tara was released celebrating Mother's day on 12 May 2024.[19] The first single of the movie "Maathu Sothu" was released on 13 May 2024.[20] The next song "Janatha City" from the film, sung by Sanjith Hegde was released on 22 May 2024.[21]
