Samatha Squalia is an American politician and public figure, serving as the Mayor of Fitchburg, Massachusetts since 2023.[1] She began this career after serving 6 years on the City Council of Fitchburg Massachusetts as a councilor at large.[1]

Before mayorship[edit]

Prior to serving as Mayor, Squalia was a member of the City Council and the founder of the Keep Fitchburg Beautiful program which organizes volunteers to complete local cleanup projects.

She also studied green architecture, and is certified LEED AP, BD&C. In addition to advocating for the creation of a dog park in the City of Fitchburg, she was a board member of the Massachusetts Municipal Association.

She is the owner of Rustic Craft Designs.

Discussing Fitchburg Now[edit]

Squalia is the director of a community affairs Facebook page called Discussing Fitchburg Now, which has since been adapted by her into an access television series on Fitchburg Access Television. The page is known for its emotional local content and colorful commentary, which is generally updated daily.

Mayorship[edit]

Squalia was elected Mayor of Fitchburg in November 2023, where she has been serving since.
