The Sol Prymus (English: Primus, meaning Primary) is a Brazilian single-place paraglider that was designed and produced by Sol Paragliders of Jaraguá do Sul starting in the mid-2000s. It remained in production as the Prymus 4 in 2016.^[1]^[2]

Design and development[edit]

The Prymus was designed as a beginner to intermediate glider. By 2016 the design had progressed through four generations of models, the Prymus 1, 2, 3 and 4, each improving on the last. The models are each named for their relative size.^[1]

The Prymus 4 has a top and bottom wing surface made from WTX 40 - 40 g/m2 fabric, with wing ribs made from Pro Nyl 42 g/m2 rip stop covered with poliuretano and BT technology reinforcements. The lines are 1.1, 1.5 and 2.1 mm Cousin Technora Superaram, while the risers are Fitanew 15 x 2,0 mm Flat Multi 1600 kg strapping. The carabiners are Ansung Precision 4mm 800 kg and the pulleys are made by SOL.^[2]

Prymus 1[edit]

Prymus 1 S: Small-sized model for lighter pilots. Its 11.40 m (37.4 ft) span wing has a wing area of 27.43 m² (295.3 sq ft), 35 cells and the aspect ratio is 4.74:1. The pilot weight range is 60 to 80 kg (132 to 176 lb). The glider model is AFNOR Standard certified.^[1]
Prymus 1 M: Mid-sized model for medium-weight pilots. Its 11.88 m (39.0 ft) span wing has a wing area of 29.77 m² (320.4 sq ft), 35 cells and the aspect ratio is 4.74:1. The pilot weight range is 75 to 95 kg (165 to 209 lb). The glider model is AFNOR Standard certified.^[1]
Prymus 1 L: Large-sized model for heavier pilots. Its 12.35 m (40.5 ft) span wing has a wing area of 32.2 m² (347 sq ft), 35 cells and the aspect ratio is 4.74:1. The pilot weight range is 90 to 110 kg (198 to 243 lb). The glider model is AFNOR Standard certified.^[1]

Prymus 4[edit]

Prymus 4 S: Small-sized model for lighter pilots. Its 10.99 m (36.1 ft) span wing has a wing area of 23.41 m² (252.0 sq ft), 39 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.16:1. The take-off weight range is 70 to 90 kg (154 to 198 lb) and glide ratio is 8.3:1. The glider model is Deutscher Hängegleiterverband e.V. (DHV) LTF/EN A certified.^[2]
Prymus 4 M: Mid-sized model for medium-weight pilots. Its 11.6 m (38.1 ft) span wing has a wing area of 26.05 m² (280.4 sq ft), 39 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.16:1. The take-off weight range is 80 to 100 kg (176 to 220 lb) and glide ratio is 8.3:1. The glider model is DHV LTF/EN A certified.^[2]
Prymus 4 L: Large-sized model for heavier pilots. Its 12.08 m (39.6 ft) span wing has a wing area of 28.27 m² (304.3 sq ft), 39 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.16:1. The take-off weight range is 85 to 110 kg (187 to 243 lb) and glide ratio is 8.3:1. The glider model is DHV LTF/EN A certified.^[2]
Prymus 4 XL: Extra large-sized model for even heavier pilots. Its 12.56 m (41.2 ft) span wing has a wing area of 30.58 m² (329.2 sq ft), 39 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.16:1. The take-off weight range is 100 to 125 kg (220 to 276 lb) and glide ratio is 8.3:1. The glider model is DHV LTF/EN A certified.^[2]
