Antonio Ferrara (criminal)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Antonio "Nino" Ferrara (born 12 October 1973[1]) is an Italian-born French criminal. He became known for his escape from Fresnes Prison in 2003.[2]

Life[edit]

Ferrara was born in Italy and migrated with his family to France in the 1980s. He later became involved in organised crime, including robberies of armoured cash in transit vehicles. He was eventually arrested and jailed for bank robberies, murder and a previous prison escape in 1998.

He escaped from Fresnes Prison outside Paris on March 12, 2003, in a violent raid by his fellow gang members. To free him, gang members blew up a prison gate and "sprayed" the prison guards with AK-47 fire.[3]
